Bestselling Scherzo Eau de Parfum recreates the heady glamour of 1930s French riviera in our Unisex best-selling Miller Harris perfume. Bursting with fruits, flowers and shimmering sunshine.

An intensely vibrant scent, full of colour, depth and a rush of sweetness, Scherzo captures a multitude of blooms: dark red rose, clouds of peony, sunny yellow narcissus and crisp white pittosporum. The sweetness of tangerine is offset by the intoxicating purple richness of davana, which adds a twist of liquor to the scent. The base shimmers with oud, earthy patchouli and a sprinkling of sugar to capture the feeling of a confectioner’s window.

Launched in 2018, Scherzo fragrance is inspired by a passage of text in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Tender is the Night. This short passage was the only thing given to perfumer Mathieu Nardin as the brief for the fragrance to be created. The resulting perfume has gone on to become an instant classic and a Miller Harris perfume bestseller in our house of fragrances.

ORRIS BUTTER (IRIS)

One of the most expensive fragrance ingredients in the world, this is made from the iris bulb, which has to be dried for 4 to 5 years, turned constantly and carefully protected. The oil that is distilled gives a soft, powdery suede-leather floral note.

SWEET NOTE

Fitzgerald writes descriptively of the real roses "looking like sugar flowers in a confectioners window". Maltol is a naturally occurring compound found in the bark of larch trees and pine needles.

PERFUMERS STORY

Inspired by the world of literature

Scherzo is the first Miller Harris fragrance to derive inspiration from the world of literature. Launched in 2018, Scherzo is inspired by a passage of text in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s 'Tender is the Night'. This short passage was the only thing given to perfumer Mathieu Nardin as the brief for the fragrance to be created. The resulting perfume has gone onto become an instant classic and bestseller in our house of fragrances at Miller Harris. The fragrance takes in cue from Fitzgerald's description of the heroine, young actress Rosemary Hoyt strolling against a symphony of bright flowers in glorious summer sunshine. Mathieu says that "when i read a book, I can smell what i am reading, the sense of what the writer is describing - the location, the French Riviera and the wonderful descriptions of sun, sea and heat influenced me to find my own colours and palette for the book in order to fill out the background for the fragrance. "Scherzo " is named after a musical term meaning a small extract taken from a larger work such as a symphony.
