An exploration of vetiver, the roots of a grass grown for Miller Harris in Haiti. Vetiver Insolent is an intriguingly fresh yet smoky fragrance. This rebellious take on a vetiver classic has a very sensual, energetic and modern spirit. The facets of vetiver are all at play here, the forest floor earthiness of the root juxtaposed with the smoky resin of elemi, the woody elements of black pepper and the brazen freshness of bergamot and cardamom.

Perfumers story
A Classic Inspired by the Forest Floor
As with most of the Editions range, the story develops classic perfumery in a bold complex formulation. Created in 2016 by perfumer Mathieu Nardin, whose brief was to formulate a fragrance that took its direction from the forest floor. Talking about his creation, Mathieu has said “I’m really glad that the name Vetiver Insolent was the final name for this scent. This was my name for it while I worked on it and so I always had it in my mind. I love vetiver and I wanted to bring something a little different to the formulation, something sexy and fresh, a touch of grapefruit, a texture of wood.” In 2020, GQ recognised it as one the finest vetiver fragrances on the market in the GQ grooming awards, 5 years after it was launched. Showing that the best classics, often do take time to develop.
